James Leavold

Overview

My name is James and a year ago, I moved to Frome with my wife – she is originally from the town.

I am an accredited micro provider for Somerset County Council.

I have always been in professions that help people develop, and I love communicating with others. This is what inspired me to become a micro provider – a companion for others who need a friendly face.

I am a qualified coach, part of which means that listening is recognised as an important part of providing person-centered support. I am keen to help my clients in a way that is self-empowering; this I believe allows people to develop and maintain independence wherever possible.

In my varied careers to date, I have been a professional trainer, a journalist and stand-up comedian!

These abilities and experiences highlight my communications skills in a way that is practical and fun, yet down to earth. I delight in meeting new people and getting to know them and enjoy chatting, whatever the subject.

Humour is so important to me: I love to have a laugh and joke with people – again where appropriate.

But I recognise we all have challenges in life; my goal is to bring a little bit of warmth and happiness back into people’s lives!

In conclusion, I hope this bit of background helps you feel encouraged to contact me.

In brief, I offer:
- Companionship. A chance to meet and talk about shared interests, sport, music, culture, past history and stories, family life, what’s going on in the news, what’s going on locally
- Shopping if needed
- Trips out – I have access to a car and can accompany clients to visit friends and other family members, or visits to places/situations of interest. I can also offer transport and company for appointments
- Minor jobs around the house or garden if needed

I have a clean driving license, have full liability insurance, and have been DBS checked. I can provide references from previous clients if required.
